What track of yours do you think you should go down in history for and why?

I want to be remembered for “My Words and Thoughts”. This song has a lot of soul and it touches on a lot of things I go through trying to pursue a career in music as well as tell somethings about our history and where I feel were going. It is truly a song from my heart and feel any listener will feel just that. https://soundcloud.com/kiarapprincess/my-words-thoughts-keenas-reign

Describe the typical Kia Rap Princess fan.

I really can’t say that there is anything typical about a Kia Rap Princess Fan. They range from kids in grade school to adults in their late 40s-50s. One thing they all would have in common is a genuine love for hiphop. I think they all would say that KRP is relatable on all levels, I don’t just speak to a certain side or demographic but rather on how I feel and people can feel that.

Many female rappers have made strides in the last few years. Does the game feel like it has evolved for you since you started?

I do feel the game has evolved and that women have made more strides over the years, however I do feel that overall the “industry” market has not opened its doors to other female artists, which leads to more women making and finding their own way in the world of music. I do think it’s a great thing that with social media and the internet an artist like myself can still rise above the “industry standards” and go against the grain and learn to fly on my own without the help of a major. With things like sound cloud and YouTube you can start to develop your own grass roots following and blaze your own path which the process can sometimes be frustrating but rewarding at the same time. I guess you can say it’s bittersweet.

What’s the meaning behind the title of your new EP #EVERSINCEthePrequel?

Well “EVERSINCE” is really a short series. You have “The Prequel ” and soon you will have the album. Both of which breaks down my journey “EVERSINCE” certain events or things have occurred in my journey. You’ll hear about subjects ranging from how I dealt with depression after losing my mom due to her battle with Cancer as well the things that I experienced after stepping out on faith and moving to Atlanta to further my career in music. All of these events or songs tell a story in a “EVERSINCE” or “life after” kind of way in which I feel any one can relate too young or elder. The prequel was intended to be as short as it is to set you up for the album which will go more in depth in regards to such subjects matters. I hope to release it sometime within the fourth quarter and I recommend everyone to support and listen when it drops.

What do you think the old school can learn from the new school and vice versa?

One thing the old school can learn from the new school is how to embrace change. One thing I always see in hip hop between the old school and new school is this constant battle between what was then and what is now. The old school tends to come off with this “Back in my day” type attitude whereas the new school is like “What is a cassette tape again?”(lol). But one thing the new school can learn from the old school is greatness takes time. In the new age we’re used to getting everything quick. Fast cars, fast foods , almost everything the old school had to work for is available to the new school at the click of a button, even beats. Because of this I feel not too many want to take their time with music anymore. We want everything now and not everything in life happens that way. So it’s a give and take if we can embrace each other more we can see how far we have come and how far we can Go. It’s #NOLIMIT.
