Welcome to another edition of Po Politickin. In this episode, we politick hip hop journalist Mehka King. Mehka King is a freelance writer by trade with credits in XXL, Slam, Rolling Out, yoraps.com to name a few. In 2010, he used his writing talent to help create his first film project “Crown Royalty: The history of Charlotte hip-hop” through his company Invisible Man Media. The documentary covered the fledgling local hip-hop scene in Charlotte NC. The film was met with great reviews both local and nationally. Currently, Mehka working on his latest film project “In the mix: Djs doing work” about Dj’s in hip-hop. He’s also close to finishing his first book, a collection of short stories, poetry and essays titled “Catastrophic collapse of time management”

Check out the extended trailer for the up-coming Hip Hop Documentary “In The Mixx: Djs Doing Work.” Produced and directed by freelance writer Rodney “Mehka’ King, the documentary features interviews and clips from notable talent such as CORE Dj’s own Tony Neal, DJ Greg Street, Steve Raze, Lloyd Banks, GLC, Dj Infamous, Dj Screw, Dj Scream, and more.

“In the mixx: Djs doing work” covers the influence and impact of Djs on the Hip-Hop culture. The film touches on topics such as the rise of mixtapes, Dj Screw and his impact on the Texas music scene, how the Internet has changed Dj’ing and more. Filming since October 2010, “In the mixx: Djs doing work” will complete production in 2012.
