It’s been roughly 1 year since the premiere of the Californian counterparts, Kahlee & Digital Martyrs. The unveil of their ‘Baring My Soul’ video introduced a raw emotional journey of personal struggle that most know but few discuss in Hip-Hop. Since their inception, this explicit portrayal has been the cornerstone of their collaborative works. The release of ‘ReBlessed’ was a conceptual liberation of the average American life. Both Kahlee & Digital Martyrs are men with families, children and 9-5 jobs that often make their 5-9 job of cultivating art an art in its own. “Waking up at 6am for work, the day after performing with Cypress Hill and Snoop Dogg is a crazy extreme” says Kahlee, “but the reality is I have to work to maintain the life I always wanted and now have; A healthy family, a roof over our heads and hip-hop.” The Arash Afshar directed, musical short, ‘Perspective’ is a look at a man with the weight of the world on his shoulders, realizing that very weight he’s burdened by is just a simple consequence of his accomplished goals. As Kahlee’s last line goes, “How Ironic, these scattered puzzle pieces of life’s exactly what I wanted.”
