In this episode of PoPolitickin, we politick with DMV-based singer and songwriter, Martha Afework.

Martha Afework has been singing since she could form sentences. She was classically trained on piano from age 4, and has since only grown to love other sounds. After graduating from college with an english degree in 2015, Martha put her piano to use, writing original tunes and posting them on Instagram. There, her videos began to go viral, and she began to grow a following. Since, she has begun to record and co-produce original music. Laced with powerhouse vocals inspired by soulful r&b/jazz sensations like Amy winehouse, Jill Scott, and D’angelo. Combined with honest lyrical content, Martha’s music is multi-faceted and transcends the boundaries of all soulful musical genres. “I just want to inspire people to be the truest and most authentic versions of themselves,” she says. Her debut ep, entitled “One-Eighty,” will be available on all platforms this spring 2018.
