Q1 – Thanks for stopping by to politick with us. I was reading that you are originally from the Boston area? Where abouts? Can you discuss your background and how you fell in love with music?
Yes i am from south of boston and live in braintree. I fell in love with music ever since i was a kid and my mom and dad would play it in the house. I grew up listening to more of the mainstream hits but liked all genres. Music gets me through everything so i thought it would be perfect for me to find my own lane in it. My dad also has been writing and doing music for almost 45 years now so he has helped me out a lot too.
Q2 – Can you talk about your name, how you got it,etc?
I started off as my name being antfern24, than realized that would never work. So i changed it to just “Fern” as it comes from my last name and all of my friends would call me that. It just comes off as totally natural and pure and definitely and easy catch to get introduced to my music.
Q3 – Who would you compare your self to musically?
I have so many different influences its hard to say who exactly i sound like, but i have had comparisons to A boogie wit da hoodie, Juicewrld, XXXtentacion, Post Malone. We always like to compare artists and never take them for who they are and what they bring to the game. A boogie is probably my biggest influence today though.
Q4 – Who is your most dedicated and loyal fan? (Excluding family members)My most dedicated fans are definitely my friends who ive had since before i even started music. Everyone who i share my music with though has always been loyal and most have become fans instantly. I try to develop some sort of connection with every fan and person i meet along this journey.
Q5 – Can you discuss your current projects and plans for rest of ’19? ’20?
My current project is actually my debut album i released earlier this year. I am always working on new music and writing new ideas so thats always in the process. A music video for my lead single off my album “Sorrow” will dropping late September and that is going to bring a whole another level to this song. There will also be another mini project before this year is over so be on the watch.
Q6 – Can you describe the new single “Sorrow”? Is there a music video for it?
My song sorrow has always been my personal favorite ever since i wrote it. I knew it had a different feeling and was something like ive never done before. That song will instantly connect with someone especially who has experienced heartbreak before as the album is called “ Hard days and Heartaches”. As I mentioned before there will be a music video for Sorrow very soon that will bring a whole new perspective.
Q7 – If someone never heard your music before, what is the first song that you would want them to hear?
If someone has never listened to my music before i would say listen to whatever pops out to them first and feel like they can relate to the most. If you want a suggestion i would definitely go with “huh” or “sorrow” off the album. Great stories to get to know me as an artist.
Q8 – Have you worked with any known MC’s/Producers,etc?
I have been in contact with some known producers and mc’s. I have worked wit dougie one of meek mills producers and have been in touch with meek mills nephew and some of his team who also said they are fans of my music.
